For this project I plan on making a robotic snake capable of moving using a slithering motion. I am going to base the design off a do it yourself tutorial from this video.
The circuit board used is an astable multi-vibrator board that has two outputs and allows only one of them to run and alternates between them. By attaching motors to the circuit board the spinning of the motors will turn the head of the snake and alternate evenly. I found a similar board that is designed as a soldering project that alternates flashing led’s seen below.
I have run into one problem when replacing the led’s with 3 volt motors. Even with high output, I believe the resistors that protect the led’s prevent enough energy to power the motors. My next step is to try higher capacitance capacitors to see if they will produce enough energy to power the motors.
